Twin Birds Of The Same Tree (Mundak Upanishad)

We are twin birds of the same tree,

You a little higher up, I, a little below thee .

I live to eat the fruits of the tree,

You just watch with neither sorrow nor glee.

Fruits sweet & juicy, I accept them carefree,

When bitter fruits come my way, I want to flee.

Yet you aren’t unsettled a bit perching on the tree,

You still just watch all my dilemma emotion free.

Why am I like this with mirth & sorrow,

Why do I always worry about tomorrow.

And you my twin on that highly branch,

Are devoid emotion and never flinch.

Who is That 'I' -with that silent gaze

A bird I am, from lands afar,

I've halted here beneath the star.

 

A moment's worth, here’s my nest,

Soon, I must depart on another quest.

 

From where I came—I do not know,

Don’t even know—Where I will go.

 

All that's here shall pass one day,

Only the ever pure "I" shall always stay.

 

Its colours endless, vast, untold,

Unfolding secrets, fold by fold.

 

The sun, the wind, the falling rain,

Touch only body, not the true "I" within.

 

Who is this "I" who none can define,

Untouched by the elements or time?

 

The mind may weep, or dance in bliss,

But this "I" can't be confined to this.

 

This ego-sense—a fleeting dream,

Not truth, but just a passing gleam.

 

Then who is "I"— with that silent gaze,

Watches it all in changeless ways?

पांडुरंग रुप माधुरी

नयनमनोहर रूप तुझे, पांडुरंगा पावन थोर । 
विटेवरी तू उभा रहावा, आम्हांस समचरणांचा धीराधार ॥१॥
 
डाव्या पदावर चिन्ह शुभ, भक्तप्रेमाचं त्यात तेज । 
मांड्यांमधे गुराख्याची काठी, गोपाळ लीला अद्भुत सहज ॥२॥
 
कटी पितांबर कसुन भर्जरी,सुवर्ण मेखला सजली त्यावरी 
शुभ्र कमळ दक्षीण करी , पांचजन्य स्थिर वाम करी ॥३॥
 
नाभीअसे ब्रह्मज्योती,ब्रम्हांडाचे तेचि बीज  । 
वक्षस्थळी रुक्मिणी विराजित , जाणे मनाचे गुज  ॥४॥
 
गळ्यात तुळशीमाळ दाटे, कौस्तुभमणी दीपे तेज । 
गूढ स्मित मुखकमलावर, डोळ्यांत कृपेचा साज ॥५॥
 
मकर कुंडले कानात ती, शोभे दैवी अलंकार । 
भाळी तिळक कस्तुरीचे, लेवीसी भक्तचरणांचा अबीर त्यावर  ॥६॥
 
माथ्या वरती शिवपिंडी, त्यावर तेजोमय मुकुट । 
शिव विष्णूचा जेथे संगम,तो पांडुरंग तूं साक्षात  ॥७॥
 
पायापासून शिरोबिंदू, तुझं दर्शन गुढ अपार । 
मेघ म्हणे विठूमाऊली , तूच आमुचा संसार! ॥८॥
